The EMF depends on the SFP (Service cantonal de la formation professionnelle or Cantonal division of vocational education) to fulfil its public service mission; maintains relations, under contract or otherwise, with many organisations and companies; and is a member of various professional and training associations.
The EMF plays an active role in the following vocational training associations:
Fédération des ecoles techniques et de métiers (FET-VTS-FST)
Conférence Suisse des Directeurs d'écoles professionnelles et de métiers (CSD-SDK)
The EMF works closely with the following professional associations in Fribourg:
“Energy and Building”/“Plastics Network”/“IT-VALLEY" clusters
Fribourg mechanical, electricity and machine association (FRIMECA)
The EMF maintains relationships with a number of companies in order to find internships for students, or as a product and services development provider. This collaboration not only benefits students, but offers a positive learning experience for participating companies. Internships, visits and open days are also organised as a way to exchange information.
The EMF also works closely with the EIAF – Fribourg Engineer and Architect School (HES-SO Fribourg). Three out of four students educated at the EMF’s ergonEMF and logusEMF sections go on to pursue an engineering course at the EIAF, where they are admitted without the need to take an entrance exam.
